speedometer

Moro,

Does anyone know what could be wrong with a speedometer that started to bounce/shake? Earlier it was just giving a weird ticking noise, but worked fine.

Also at higher speeds it measures 10-20% less than actual.

1. Speedometer broken (most likely)
2. "Sensor" in gearbox broken (teeth worn out)
3. Cable between sensor and speedometer broken.

I'd change the "sensor" first, then cable, lastly the meter it self. I believe people will have spares lying around alot.

Is there a way to repair the speedometer? I don't want to disassembly to whole stuff if no chance .

Because of the ticking noise I'd assume that the problem lies there...

Anyway, does anyone have a used sensor and/or a cable for sale?

The unit I have looks pretty solid, recommending replacement. It MIGHT be possible to transfer the trip meters to new speedometer housing, but can't be sure. The speedometer gauge is separate from rpm and other gauges.

Thanks for your help and the offer for the replacement unit.

I disassembled the front panel and today at daylight I could see whats wrong. The end of the cable where it connects to the back of the speedometer was quite badly worn off.

I soldered the end of the cable so that I was trying to make it square shaped. I do not know how long the solder will last, at least it is working fine now.
