Hey guys
After Vesa from VnDyno took a look under my engine cover (thanks again!), it was clear that the transmission's cracked. It still changed gears without problems though.
So I drove home (ca. 5 kms), but after 3 kms I heard the gears singing, and when I had to stop for a red light, and tried to accelerate after, it was just ugly. You know the sound. Front axle's blocked, had to call a towing service. F***!
So anyone got a spare transmission lying around? In Ostrobothnia?
Thanks,
Michael

Can't remember now what "purkamo" is in English, but let's just say it is a place where cars go to die That is: they are disassembled and usable parts are sold.

Re: '92 900 needs new tranny
Thanks guys! They have 3 gearboxes. Which one should I take? _1_ _2_ _3_ In doubt the most expensive one?

Re: '92 900 needs new tranny
I'm not that familiar with OG900, but I would imagine that the 2.1 16V version gear ratios would be most similar to your old gearbox. The 8 valve carburated version probably had a lot shorter ratios.

You might also want to check with Veljekset Mäntykorpi in Kokkola. Their pricing was far more reasonable for a part I happened to need a while ago, but I don't know if they're cheaper in general. Anyway, it doesn't hurt to ask. They're probably a bit closer to you, too.

Thanks guys! The primary gearing doesn't matter, as I will take the type-8 over I installed just 2 month ago.
It would actually be great to have the long diff with the type 8 primary
I will also check out Veljekset Mäntykorpi then.
