Hello All!

I noticed a lot of traffic from my website (http://www.kyankton.net/) to your BB. So, I thought you might want to see the latest pics of my project car and the interior.

I have pretty much got everything wired up and running on the inside. With a little help from my friendly battery charger (battery now located in the back), I was able to wire and test everything, even the new turn signals on the mirrors. Having a remote kill for the battery was also really cool because this meant I could safely disconnect the battery without have to actually disconnect it. Ok, time for a little tour - You will notice the dual read-out digital gauges, the modified door panels with inset tweeter, suede upper, carbon handle pulls (currently being used for something else ) OE carbon fiber dash, two red buttons on the dash - the upper flashes signaling that the CO2 cooler is armed and the lower for manually firing it (it also fires when the full throttle switch is activated), in-dash flat panel display and DVD player (see stereo section for all the gory details), suede covered dash and center console, cubby replacement for ashtray (no smokers please), and you can barely see the aluminum pedals. Oh, I almost forgot the newly wrapped steering wheel. Now, there may be some more stuff here (its kind of like one of those I spy puzzles), so sorry if I missed something. How much lighter is carbon hood ?

Yes, the hood is carbon. I have designed a number of custom carbon fiber pieces for this car including the 3 gauge pod and hood. On my web site you can also find carbon fiber grill, DI cassette cover, and other things. The car has been completely rebuilt from the bottom up.

Sorry, I guess I never really answered you question. Do not have exact weights but lets say that you can easily pick up the hood with one hand. You cannot do this with the stock hood.

Great work Kevin. We have been reading your website with eyes wide open. That is ultimate project to rebuild hole vehicle.

In regards to the engine, the bottom end is stock but been rebuilt. The head has be ported and polished. At this point there are still a lot of unfinished engine pieces but I hope to finish them as money comes available over the next few months. You can see the details of the engine here ->

Like many others I have also been visiting your site frequently and your project is awesome !
I specially love all those CF-parts you have made and also the suede-dash is really nice
Does that Kenwood headunit fit directly into the original slot or is some modifying required ? Have you had the chance to try it out, how does it work ? I've been looking to get a new headunit and possibly a dvd+screen until I found that Kenwood unit, at least it seems very good..The only downside is the price, at least here in Finland

Ya, it is not cheap here either. Like all Saab projects, nothing ever "fits" and needs some custom work. The unit is slightly taller and a smig wider, so the opening needs to be re-worked. I had to cut the bottom, inner plastic supports on the dash. The good news is that it does fit the face plate of the dash. This is not just the flat monitor but the whole unit that fits in there. Yes, it does work and you can see it powered up in one of the pictures. I also have satellite radio and multi CD changer installed along with the rear facing color video camera. You can check the website for specific details in the ICE (In Car Entertainment system).

Kevin, that's definitely some piece of machinery. Really nice work! That carbon fibre hood is mean! Up here, all the body panels should be made of carbon fibre to prevent corrosion. Our department of road management likes to spread salt on our roads during wintertime to melt the ice. That's hazardous to the bodywork.

Netissä joskus selaillessani törmäsin muistaakseni tuollaisiin mittareihin...Olivat muistaakseni aika kaliita, kun niiden lisäksi piti hankkia joku boksi johon tiedot ensin tulee ja se jakaa ne mittareille.

Mutta mitä sitä nyt ei ostaisi Saabiinsa....
